The Intersection of Law Enforcement and Autism

In Oregon, the Washington County Sheriff's Office is holding a training for law enforcement officers in "how to recognize signs of autism, to deescalate situations and to know where to look if an autistic child wanders away."

In Florida, the Miami Beach Police Dept. encounters a 57 year old man with autism who is holding a toy rifle. When he doesn't follow their commands, they shoot and kill him.
